26 for Caleb

26 for Caleb

On August 25th, 2019 at 8:00AM at the James D Eggers Instructional Support Center (4810 Magnolia Cove Dr, Kingwood, TX 77345) you will find many Global Edge employees and community members participating in a 5k run in support of the 26 for Caleb Tripp Thornton Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship memorial fund was created and launched by a Global Edge employee, Kristi, in memory of her brother who passed away suddenly in a car crash in January 2018. A week after her brothers’ passing, Kristi was scheduled to run a marathon (26.2 miles). However, due to the emotional and physical toll of her loss, Kristi decided to defer her entry until the next year. Instead of running 26.2 miles, Kristi asked that 26 random individuals complete an Act of Kindness in her brothers’ honor, and soon became #26forCaleb.

Since of our core values at Global Edge is social responsibility, we make it a priority to give back to our community and support causes that are important to members of the Global Edge family. This will be one of our many philanthropic events of the year and we would like to invite all community members to join us as #GlobalEdgeGivesBack while we run (or walk) to support the 26 for Caleb movement.

To register for the 5k to support #26forCaleb, all you need to do is purchase a T-shirt at: www.represent.com/26forCaleb5k all proceeds go towards the scholarship.

Kristi expressed the importance of social responsibility in a company by saying, “Having support from my Global Edge Family is one of the many reasons that makes working for this company so great! I firmly believe the best way to heal is to help and having them support the 26forCaleb movement means not only a lot to me, but to my family. Companies that show support and see the value in giving back to their community is essential and makes for a better future. I am forever grateful for their contribution and support as we continue to bring hope through tragedy.”

The Caleb Tripp Thornton Memorial Scholarship is available to all Humble ISD students, with the hopes to expand to other districts across Texas. Students will be able to apply and be eligible by maintaining a 3.0 GPA, completing an essay on how they have been active in the community/the impact it has had on them, as well as a completing 100+ hours of community service for the school year.
