The Global Edge recently celebrated Chinese New Year 2015, Year of the Goat, for our Anadarko contractors.

The Global Edge celebrated with a fantastic feast of Chinese Food, which included General Tso’s Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Chicken Lo Mein, Wonton Soup and egg rolls and finally custom made fortune cookies too! A great time was had by all!

Chinese New Year is the most important holiday for the Chinese. Chinese New Year is the first day for the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar, which is based on a Chinese lunisolar calendar – the dates indicate both the moon phase and the time of the solar year. As opposed to the world’s different countries, which arrive at midnight on New Year’s Eve on January 1. Times can vary by time zones.

The celebration normally starts from the New Year’s Eve and lasts for around fifteen days until the middle of the first month. Chinese New Year is a time for family reunion, which is the most important part of the celebration. Families will visit, watch traditional shows, launch fireworks and plan for the year ahead. In China, people take weeks of holiday from work to prepare and celebrate the New Year.

A few traditions are fireworks and family feasts to The Lantern Festival and Lucky Money given in red envelopes. For the Chinese, the color red symbolizes fire and according to legend, can drive bad luck away!

From all of us here at The Global Edge Consultants, Happy Chinese New Year!
